My son just started riding without training wheels and these have saved his knees on the sidewalk more times than I can count. They're soft enough that he forgets he's wearing them but they still hold up when he takes a real tumble.

My daughter wears these for trail rides and barely notices she has them on, which says a lot since she used to yank her old pads off after ten minutes. The material flexes with her knees on climbs but still took a decent hit when she clipped a root last weekend.

My son took a hard spill on the sidewalk yesterday and didn't even get a scrape—the padding is substantial without being bulky. He can pedal and walk without any restriction.
